Employee Volunteer Program

Together, Learning Leaders and corporate employees can help foster the workforce of the next generation. By participating in one or more of Learning Leaders' Corporate Programs, your company can have a positive impact on students' lives. We offer a wide range of corporate volunteer opportunities, so your employees are sure to have an enjoyable and rewarding experience working with students!

Corporate Volunteer Programs

Each Learning Leaders Corporate Program provides on-site training for employee volunteers.

Tutoring

At a public elementary, middle or high school, employees can tutor a student in need of extra help in reading, writing, English as a second language, math or other subjects. In this role, volunteers serve not only as tutors, but also as role models by giving students greater knowledge of the working world. Tutoring occurs during school hours and, at particular high schools, also in the evening. Learning Leaders will assign volunteers to schools that are located near your offices. One hour per week is the minimum time commitment. Just this small amount of time can add up to years of fulfillment!

Book Buddies

In this program, Learning Leaders matches each participating employee with an elementary school pen-pal. Each volunteer and student is given a chapter book to read, which is discussed through an exchange of letters. (Student and volunteer write three letters each.) The program builds the student's vocabulary, writing and grammar skills while increasing his/her appreciation of books and reading. Over the course of an academic year, two books are read by each pair--one in the fall and one in the spring. "Book Buddies" get the opportunity to meet one another twice a year, when students travel to the volunteers' offices to enjoy lunch together and take a tour of the company. Helping a child develop a love of reading has never been so easy!

Read Aloud

No matter how old they are, children always enjoy being read to. Learning Leaders provides students with this experience through its Corporate Read Aloud program, in which employee volunteers read great storybooks to elementary school classes several times a year. It's that simple--yet, there's no better way to discover the joy of sharing books with children!
